Abstract

207,758. Hodgson, H. E. June 5, 1923. Buoys.- A life-saving device designed to facilitate throwing to a drowning person comprises a missile member 2 of low buoyancy, such as a ball or disc of wood, to which a line 3 is secured, and provided with a number of floats 5 attached by cords 4. A cord 6 may also be provided between the buoys to form a network. The cords 4 may pass through the member 2 and be secured by knots 7 on opposite sides of the member. The member 2 and floats 5 may be white or brightly coloured to increase visibility. In an emergency the missile and its attached floats are first thrown, and then, if necessary, an ordinary annular buoy is sent along the line 3.
