SHUTOV. 22 July, 1968, No. 34834/68. Heading C1A. A process for the purification of hydrogen in a gas mixture containing not more than 1% by volume carbon monoxide, comprises contacting the gas at a temperature not greater than 200‹ C. with steam, oxygen and a " low temperature catalyst ". The oxygen may be present in an amount not greater than 0À5%, and may be added as air, N 2 /O 2 mixture or steam/O 2 mixture. Preferably the CO 2 content of the gas is lowered before the process. In the example a H 2 /N 2 /CH 4 /C0 2 /CO mixture is purified using a Zn/Cr/Cu catalyst.
