Abstract

1,233,160. Stud fastenings. AMP Inc. 28 Feb., 1969 [8 March, 1968], No. 44362/70. Divided out of 1,230,746. Heading E2B. [Also in Division H2] A fastener formed from a sheet metal blank comprises a body part 20 having resiliently deformable side parts 21 curved away from the body part in opposite directions to give the fastener the cross sectional configuration of an S the side parts each having lateral serrations 24 and at one end portion being tapered to facilitate penetration of a panel aperture and each at the other end having an outwardly extending force receiving wing portion 23. In the construction shown the serrations are disposed at a slight angle to the longitudinal axis of the fastener. The fastener is shown connecting a panel member 26 to a panel member 27 the serrations 24 biting into the walls defining opening 28 in panel member 26 and the extremities of wings 23 clamping onto the panel member 27 however in a modification one of the wing portions has a ferrule portion for connection to an electrical conductor and the body part and side parts in such case engage a single panel member; the fastener can be unscrewed from the panel member or members by inserting a screwdriver blade into a space 25 between the wing portions and rotating the fastener.
