Abstract

1301516 Releasable fasteners F T PRODUCTS Ltd 26 March 1970 [8 April 1969] 16723/70 Divided out of 1299592 Heading E2B A resilient fastener for attaching an elongate member such as a cable to an apertured support comprises a body 11, a hollow shank 13 projecting from the under surface of the body, a bore through the body which is coaxial with the shank and a pin 14 which can be struck down into the shank to lock the shank in an aperture in the support, wherein the pin has a head 21 at its trailing end portion which is formed with a groove 24 adapted to receive the elongate member and the upper face of the body is formed with a recess which is shaped to receive and retain the head of the pin, the head of the pin being forceable into the recess as the pin is driven into the shank to thereby retain the elongate member in the groove. In the construction shown the head is wedge shaped and the recess is also wedge shaped with over-hanging ribs 19, 20 which engage the upper face of the head when it is disposed in the recess to hold it in position. The dimension Y of the head is greater than the dimension X of the recess so that as the head is forced into position the sides of the body defining the recess are forced outwardly so that when the head is in position the head is firmly gripped. The head shown has one centrally disposed groove but in a modification two grooves can be provided. An embodiment is also described in which the grooves extend from the lower face of the head instead of from the upper face but in this case the dimension Y of the head is smaller than the dimension X of the recess, the shank as shown has two tongues and its bore tapers downwardly so that the tongues are expanded outwardly as the pin is driven into place.
