Abstract
1,232,765. Down draught diverter. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. 27 Feb., 1970 [1 March, 1969], No. 9554/70. Heading F4W. A down draught diverter for a gas-fired waterheater comprises a front wall, a back wall, a pair of baffle plates 136, 137 diverging downwardly below a flue pipe and terminating at a distance from the side walls of the housing, a second pair of baffle plates 134, 135 at the upper end of the heating chamber 11 of the water heater, and an upwardly concave deflector 15 between the upper pair of baffle plates located in apertures in the front and back walls. Further deflectors 19, 20 may be located below the edges of the upper baffles. A down draught at the flue pipe 131 causes the waste gases to flow upwardly within the side walls 141, 142 to emerge at the top of the casing of the heater casing, as shown in dotted lines, and the downflowing air is diverted to flow along the deflector 15 out of the openings in the back and front walls of the diverter, and by deflectors 19, 20 to mingle with the exhaust gases within the heater casing.
