1,231,693. Wrapping compressed articles. J. M. KRISTENSEN, and J. T. JEPSEN, [trading as K. J. MASKINFABRIKEN]. 25 March, 1969 [4 April, 1968], No. 15575/69. Heading B8C. Apparatus for enclosing a compressed bundle A<SP>1</SP> of articles in plastics sheeting 1 comprises a driven sheeting supply roller 2, welding and severing bars 7, 8, and a bundle compressing tongue 9 that is removable from between the sheeting 1 and bundle A<SP>1</SP> after the welding operation. In the embodiment described, a bundle of newspapers A is transported to a sealing position A<SP>1</SP> by conveyer belts 10, 20, the plastics sheeting 1 being supported by a reciprocatable roller 4. On sealing, the welded seam is cut longitudinally. A wrapped bundle may pass shrinkage devices (not further disclosed) to tighten the loose ends of the sheeting 1.
