Abstract

[Also in Divisions F3-F4] A cutting and/or flame scarfing torch (10) has separate valves 22, 23, 24 for the supply of cutting oxygen, heating oxygen and fuel gas respectively and all three valves are operable against respective compression springs 31 by the action of cam surfaces 43, 44, 45 respectively on a slide 39. As shown in Fig. 2, the slide 39 is movable in the direction of arrow 48 to bring cam surfaces 44, 45 into engagement with cross pin 46 on valve tappets 25 thereby forcing a valve plate 28 in each valve 23 or 24 away from a respective valve seat 30; further movement of the slide 39 overcomes a click-stop device and the cam 43 acts to open the valve 22. As seen in Fig. 4 (not shown) a roller (47) is interposed between each cam surface and each cross pin and as seen in Fig. 3 (not shown) the click-stop device comprises a bolt (51) slidably mounted in valve casing 21. In the embodiment of Figs. 5-10 valve tappet parts 74 are operated by a disc-shaped rotary slide 68: the slide 68 has recesses (76), 77, (78) which in conjunction with tappet parts 74 represent closed positions of valves (64, 65, 66), the valves being opening in sequence by rotary movement of slide 68.
