Abstract
1,229,950. Desks. CLAUDE R. OGDEN & CO. PTY. Ltd. 11 Dec., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 58999/68. Heading A4H. A desk has a rectangular cross-section metal tubing main frame comprising legs 1, 2 connected by top and secondary rails 3, 5, 7, and 4, 6, 8; the desk top comprises longitudinal and transverse rails 9, 10, 14 and 11, 12, 13, and a panel 15. Panel 15 is fixed to the desk top rails, and the desk top is fixed to the main frame rails 3, 5, 7 by screws 16. A drawer unit 17 is mounted between rails 12, 13 and located on lugs on brackets 18. It is secured by clamping screws 19 in rails 13 and by screws 20a passing through plates 20 on rails 6, 8. A back panel 21 is mounted in channel members 22, 23 fixed to drawer unit 17 and the back leg 1, and is secured to rails 7, 8 by screws 24. An end panel 25 is secured to legs 1 by screws 26 and angle members 27. Panel 15 may comprise plywood secured to a base compressed wood pulp. Panels 21, 25 may each comprise two sheets of plywood. The desk may have a drawer unit 17 at each end secured to respective desk top rails 13; channel 23 is fixed to the other drawer unit 17 and end panel 25 is omitted.
