Separate front, back and side members (1) of a frame for supporting a table top (9) are secured by screws (8) to strip metal angle brackets (7) welded into vertical slots (6) formed in the middles of the top edges of adjacent side walls of legs (4) of square section. The frame members (1) are of channel section and the brackets (7) are secured to short inner channels (5) welded to the inside surfaces of the frame members. The ends of the frame members (1) are mitred for a part of their width and the mitred edges abut leaving a square gap for the legs (4).
