Abstract
1,230,064. Desks. CLAUDE R. OGDEN & CO. PTY. Ltd. 19 Sept., 1969 [19 Sept., 1968], No. 46182/69. Heading A4H. A desk comprises a desk top, one or two end drawer units 6, and four tubular metal legs, the desk top comprising a panel 1 fixed to longitudinal rails 2, transverse end rails 4, 3, and one or two intermediate transverse rails 5, the legs being hinged at 20, 19 to rails 4, 3 and connected in pairs by rails 18 and legs 16 lying between legs 17 when folded, the drawer unit(s) 6 being releasably supported between the desk top at its associated pair of legs to hold said legs rigid in a standing position, and, in a one drawer unit, the other pair of legs being maintained rigid by releasable pivoted stays 21, 22. Rails 2, 4 are joined. by angle brackets 7 nailed thereto with an included angle of 95-100 degrees. Lugs 12 on bracket limbs 9 engage in recesses 24 in drawer unit 6, and unit 6 is clamped by jack screws 14 mounted in nuts 13 in rail 5 and provided with spike swivel feet 15. The bottom edge of unit 6 rests on and is secured by screws 23 to rail 18. Alternatively the or each drawer unit may be secured to the desk top and legs by screws.
