Abstract

1,229,907. Splitting machines. ARES S.A. 6 May, 1969 [10 May, 1968; 5 Sept., 1968; 27 Sept., 1968], No. 22966/69. Heading B4B. [Also in Division B8] Skins 14, or other sheets are fed between two converging belts 1, 2 to a stationary knife 15 which is vertically adjustable according to the desired relative thickness of the severed portions 14a, 14b. The last part 1b, 2b of the path is wavy owing to guide rollers 7-11. In another form, the wavy part of the path is omitted, and either the lower belt is thick and compressible or passes at the outlet end over a roller having a resiliently yielding peripheral layer, to accommodate varying thicknesses of the sheet, the upper severed portion being of constant thickness and the lower of variable thickness.
