Abstract

1,229,849. Centrifugal pumps. VORTEX A.G. June 19, 1968 [June 22, 1967], No.29093/68. Heading F1C. A pump assembly for connection in a pipeline has a removable casing portion containing the driving motor 1, Fig. 1, and the impeller 2. The casing portion is connected by a ring nut 3 to a base portion 4 having coaxial inlet and outlet connections 5, 6 provided with valves 8, 9 which when closed isolate the interior of the base portion from the pipeline. The valves 8, 9 are screwed on to threads of opposite hand at the ends of a hexagonal rod 11 which is rotatable by an external knob (16), Fig. 2 (not shown) via a worm 15 and wheel 14 to control the position of the valves, the valves being held against rotation by pins 17, 18 engaging axial slots in the valves. Leakage from the base portion is prevented by gaskets 19, 20, or by a gasket (21) surrounding a spindle (not shown) connecting the knob to the worm.
