Abstract

Disk wheels.-A wheel comprises two disks f, of metal, wood, or composite material, secured to the edges of the rim h by seaming, soldering, riveting, or otherwise, the central ports of the disks being attached to hub members which are capable of axial separation to set up tension in the disks. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the disks are riveted between collars g, e on sleeves c which embrace the hub barrel d and are threaded to receive the bearing-sleeves b. The latter abut against the ends of the hub d so that, by screwing either further into its sleeve c, the disks are tensioned. One of the sleeves c may be integral with the hub d. In a modification, the sleeves c are threaded directly on to the hub d.
