Abstract

1,224,899. Railway truck bolsters. AMSTED INDUSTRIES Inc. 18 July, 1968 [3 Aug., 1967], No. 34280/68. Heading B7L. A railway truck bolster comprising side walls 14 connected by horizontal top and bottom walls 10, 12 with a centre plate in the top wall 10 is strengthened by internal box sections such as 30, 36 formed by longitudinally extending internal vertical walls 26 interconnecting the top and/or bottom walls, and one or more horizontal webs 32, 34, one such web connecting each internal vertical wall 26 to its adjacent external side wall and/or one connecting the internal walls 26 to each other, the web or webs extending longitudinally beneath a substantial portion of the centre plate. There may be either a single internal box section 36 at the top and/or bottom, or two spaced box sections 30 or three contiguous box sections 30, 36, 30. Transverse vertical webs 28 extend between each side wall 14 and its adjacent web 26 and vertical supports 24 interconnect the two webs 26 at points beyond the centre plate. Apertures 20 in the side walls accommodate king-pin retainers.
