Abstract

Luggage racks.-In a railway sleeping or other carriage divided into a number of double compartments A, B, the partitions between the latter compartments are each made of open S-shape, i.e. having an inclined central portion 5, Fig. 2, and end portions 5<1> at right-angles respectively to the exterior wall 2 and to the corridor wall 4. The partition extends only to the height at which the sides 1, 2 and roof 3, Fig. 4, join, and in the space between its upper edge and the roof is disposed a transverse inverted T-shape strengthening structure 9, 10, which may terminate either at the corridor wall 4 or extend to the outer wall 1 and the horizontal parts 9 of which serve as luggage racks for the two compartments.
