Abstract

1444636 Railway vehicle undercarriages AMSTED INDUSTRIES Inc 21 Sept 1973 [10 Oct 1972] 44459/73 Heading B7L A bogie bolster 20 comprises a top wall 34 and bottom wall 22 interconnected by spaced side walls 26; a friction shoe pocket 28 in each side at each end of the bolster; an opening in the bottom wall at each pocket 28 for affording access to the latter of an associated shoe actuating spring 44; and a sloping wedge wall 30a connected to and extending above the top wall 34 to provide a downwardly facing wedge surface 30 for an associated shoe 32 in the pocket, wherein the inboard and outboard edges of the wedge wall 30a are connected to the top wall 34 by substantially triangular-shaped vertical walls 35 cast integrally with the walls 30a, 34. The invention is characterized in that the portions of the outer faces of the projections 35 are coplanar with the side walls 26.
