Abstract

1,223,857. Mine conveying system. BECORIT RESEARCH Ltd. 16 June, 1969 [29 March, 1968], No. 15217/68. Heading B8E. Material from the end face 13 of a tunnel 12 serving a coal face 11 is caused by cutting machinery or shot firing to fall onto a platform 14 from which it is removed and packed in the space behind the roof supports 10 up to an end plate 24 by a blade 16 of a carriage 17. The canage 17 runs along a beam 18 and is driven by chains 19 from an hydraulic motor 22 which reverses whenever the pressure reaches a predetermined level. The beam may be in sections 18a carried by and advanced with the roof supports 10 while the rigid platform 14 is structurally separate from the supports to which it is connected by means 27 by which it can be advanced after the supports. Alternatively the platform and beam may be a separate unit incorporating other roof supports by means of which the unit can be advanced.
