Abstract

1,223,685. Sheet forming. STOREY BROS. & CO. Ltd. 7 June 1968 [8 June, 1967], No. 26588/67. Heading B5A. In a process to form an assymmetrical article having a sloping upper surface, a heat softened thermoplastic sheet 10, of e.g. P.V.C., is initially blown into a bubble to pre-stretch it. Part of the prestretched sheet is then applied to the sloping surface 18 of the mould 16 by a plug movable in a direction normal to the surface 18, and the sheet is finally sucked or blown into overall conformity with the mould. By moving the plug in such a direction more sheet becomes available for subsequent application to the larger side of the mould than is the case when the plug moves vertically (see Fig. 3, not shown). A better distribution of material is thus ensured.
