839,027. Moulding hollow articles. PODESTA, A., and VIGNATI, C. Sept. 18, 1957 [Sept. 19, 1956], No. 29442/57. Class 87(2). A method of moulding a hollow article from a cold blank of plastic material, e.g. polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride, comprises gripping the edge portion of the blank B by separable die sections 3, engaging the opposite sides of the blank B by a reaction plunger 1 and an action plunger 2 and moving -both plungers simultaneously so they move into the die section appropriate to the reaction plunger 1 causing the unrestrained portion of the blank B to flow and form the hollow article. The die and plunger surfaces may be lubricated and a metallic insert may be embedded in the plastic material. An ejector 109 may be provided.
