A method of making a decorated plastic article, e.g. a cup, comprises moulding a base member from a thermoplastic material, applying decoration in the form of a thin wafer to the surface of the base member, inserting this into a mould and injection moulding a covering on to the base member. Either the base member or the covering is transparent or translucent so that the decoration can be seen through it.
