Abstract

Articles, particularly of a decorative nature, are moulded from synthetic resin material and comprise a body of such material having embedded therein wire, or strip material set on edge, defining one or more cells or compartments containing a synthetic resin material of a contrasting colour. The body material may be glass-clear. The articles may be made by placing on edge in a mould strip elements of metal or other material to define a cell which is filled with resin of one colour, the rest of the mould space then being filled with resin of a different colour. Moulding is then performed in the usual way. The cell or cells may be wholly embedded in the body material or have a surface flush therewith. The strip elements may be so thin as to be almost invisible or may form part of a design, e.g. leaves and stems for a flower which is outlined by the strip elements and composed of suitably coloured moulding material. The Provisional Specification refers generally to moulding thermoplastic or thermosetting plastic compositions.
