Abstract

1,223,219. Lamp supports. SERGEI IVANOVICH MIHAILOFF. 27 June, 1969 [28 June, 1968], No. 32653/69. Heading F4R. An adjustable lighting fitting intended to be attached to a keyboard musical instrument comprises a cranked arm 23 which carries a lampholder at one end and is rotatably mounted at the other end in a socket 27, a clamp for engagement with a part of the instrument such as the music rack 12, the clamp including a pair of telescopically adjustable members 30, 31, and a lockable pivotal connection 36, 37 between the socket 27 and the member 30. The clamp further includes an L-shaped bar 50, which is freely movable on a threaded stud 56 secured to the member 31 and can be tightened by means of a wing nut 57, and a middle plate 54 which can also move freely on the stud 56 and the lower end of which abuts a thumb screw 58 threaded through the bar 50. Secured to the member 31 are a cross-plate 45 and a U-shaped member 46 adapted to engage the front and top, respectively, of the rack 12, the rack being clamped between the member 30 and the middle plate 54 and all the surfaces which abut the rack being faced with soft leather. Supported on the lamp bulb (not shown) is a shade 73, one-half to two-thirds of the perimeter of which consists of an opaque portion 76 and the remainder of which is a translucent portion 78. An opaque disc 77 fills part of the top opening of the shade. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the top of the member 31 is welded to an L-shaped member (60) which, carries a single clamping screw (66) provided with a padded clamp portion (67), and the shade consists of a part-cylindrical shield (72) with an angular extent of 180-270 degrees and an opaque top (75).
