Abstract

A hand saw of fret saw type, with a slender blade, as in the main patent, has a frame with a bow formed by a bar and two arms, one or both of which slides on the bar and can be locked to it. Each arm has at the free end a socket holding the sliding end of a grip securing the saw blade, which is tightened by a nut screwing onto one of the grips and bearing against the outside of the arm. A support piece (40) for the user's thumb slides on cross bar (1) of the frame, having a groove in which the bar fits, and is lockable in position on it by means of a clamping piece (47) acting against the opposite side of the bar. A clamping screw (44) passes through one of the pieces and engages in a tapped hole (45) in the other one (41).
