Abstract

1,062,312. Hand tool handles. JAMES NEILL & CO. (SHEFFIELD) Ltd. Feb. 1, 1966 [Feb. 23, 1965], No. 7672/65. Heading B4K. A file handle comprises a body 1 provided with a pistol grip 2, a file holder disposed in a cylindrical bore in the body and adjustable about its axis to a-number of positions of rotation relative to the body, the holder having a V-notch 6 to receive two sides of a triangular file inserted into the notch and clamping means to bear on the third side of the file. The clamping means comprises a block 5 having a V-notch and a bridge piece 7 located in a transverse groove 8 intersecting the edges of the block. A tapped hole 9 in the bridge piece 7 carries a radial screw 10 that is passed through an arcuate slot 4A in the body 1 so as to permit swinging of the screw about the axis of the body to bring the holder into any of its adjusted positions. A second arcuate slot 4B in the body allows the grip to be reversed and inverted as in Fig. 7 (not shown). The body 1 is provided with a transverse sighting guide bar (12) angularly adjustable about a vertical axis. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), the clamping holder (16) is provided with a coaxial screw (20) to receive a nut (21) which fits in-a slot at the rear end of the body, tightening the nut causing the head (16) to be drawn towards the rear end of the handle. The screw (10) passes through a hole (4C) in the head to clamp the file in the holder, the head being brought into adjusted position by rotation in the tubular holder (17) that fits in the bore (18) of the body (1A).
