[Class 44] [Also in Group XXIII] In a clamp for holding laboratory apparatus of the type comprising a pair of pivoted jaws opened or closed by a screw formed with threaded portions of opposite hand engaging in corresponding nut members mounted on the jaws, the screw is turned by a central wheel, the periphery of which projects above the jaws so that it can be engaged by the thumb of a hand holding the clamp. The periphery of the wheel 13 is serrated at 13a. One jaw 6 is integral with a supporting rod 7 the other jaw being pivoted thereto at 9. The jaws are recessed on the inside faces to accommodate the wheel 13 when the jaws are closed. Specification 631,093 is referred to.
