Abstract

1,223,107. Hair driers. RONSON PRODUCTS Ltd. 9 May, 1968 [9 May, 1967], No. 21585/67. Heading A5R. The output of air from an electric hairdryer consists in general of two streams C and D, Fig. 2, of heated and unheated air, respectively, and their relative proportions are controlled by the displacement of a shutter 13. In the limiting position depicted, the flow of heated air C through the conduit is completely stopped off. Damage to the heater in this circumstance may be avoided by the provision of vents 19 or thermostatically controlled switching. In the other limiting position heated air issues through the slots 17 in the shutter, projections 18 cover the vents 19 (when provided) and the flow of unheated air D is stopped off. Normally the shutter is held between these two positions. For drying the hair a hose is fitted to the outlet 20, the hose being connected to a hairdryer hood or hand held appliance.
