Abstract

1,220,264. Sheet feeding; control. RICOH, K.K. 8 April, 1968 [14 April, 1967; 27 Dec. 967], No. 16758/68. Heading B8R. A device for automatically feeding master sheets to a copying machine comprises a vertically movable cabinet 4, Fig. 4, having a plurality of equally spaced racks 5 which are horizontally slidable whereby a single master sheet 6 is placed on each rack and the cabinet is moved stepwise so that the individual master sheets 6 are brought consecutively to a feed position, and is characterized in that each rack is provided with a means 18 for presetting the desired number of copies which are to be produced from the master sheet carried by that rack, and the means are coupled with a counter incorporated in the body of the copying machine. A copying machine 1 is fed with master sheets by conveyer belt mechanism 2; in the feeding position, the racks 5 are horizontally slidable, under the action of a thrust lever 15 connected to a piston 14 of an hydraulic cylinder 13, to feed master sheets into the nip of belts 2, and then to return under the action of spring 9. When all the master sheets have been fed into the copying machine, the cabinet 4 is restored to its original top position when a new set of master sheets can be inserted via side openings on to the racks 5.
