Abstract
121,847. Bramson (nÚe Adeler), K. Feb. 7, 1918. Materials, fibrous; pulp, preparation of.-Paper pulp is made from dead leaves. The blades or laminµ may be separated from the ribs or stalks bv know crushers or breakers and used as fuel, or the whole of the leaves may be used. For pasteboard, the material may be heated with water with or without using pressure. For paper, 5-10 per cent soda lye may be used under pressure. An apparatus for separating the blades or laminµ from the ribs or stalks consists of a perforated spherical body a rotating within a casing b and provided with balls j of cast iron or granite. These first remove the substance of the laminµ which passes through the perforations and then break up the ribs prior to treatment with liquid. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1853/71, 2168/71, 4259/82, and 18572/92.
