Abstract
144,240. Junquera, B. May 30, 1919, [Convention date]. Strainer machines.-A centrifugal machine in which pulverized solid held against the wall of the drum by centrifugal force is subjected to treatment with a current of liquid passing through the material in a direction opposite to that in which centrifugal force acts, comprises an inner drum C into which the pulverized material is charged and spread as a layer along the outer wall b consisting of layers of wire gauze enclosing a layer of fabric and supported by a perforated wooden framework, and outer drum a with solid walls rotating with the inner perforated drum. Liquid is supplied to the centre of the outer drum, passes through the space between the inner and outer drums, and by maintaining a head of liquid at the point d, is caused to pass through the material in a direction from the exterior inwards. Liquid is removed by a skiming-pipe i, and passes to a multiple-way cock, from which it can be re-circulated through a pipe l, or discharged through a pipe m to a conduit n or through a pipe k to an adjacent machine.
