Abstract

1,216,370. Door, window &c frames. MONSANTO CO. 5 July, 1968 [7 July, 1967 (2)], No. 32307/68. Heading E1J. A plastics or light metal frame structure of U-shaped cross-section for sandwiching between the side walls thereof the marginal portions of the walls surrounding a window door &c aperture comprises two frame components 21, 28 each of L-section consisting of side portion 22, 29 and a base portion 23, 30, the base portions being adapted for positive interlocking when the two components are brought together to form the frame of U-section, one base portion viz 21 having a U-section holding means 24, the arms 23, 24 of which are parallel to the base portion 21 and are provided on their inner sides with serrations 25 and the base portion 30 has a projection 31 provided with teeth which are adapted to interlock with the serrations 25 when the parts 21, 28 are pushed together to enclose the end of a wall &c 11. In a modification one or both arms 23, 24 of the holding device on one base part may be provided with projections parallel therewith, which projections are provided with outwardly directed teeth which engage with the inwardly directed teeth of a holding device on the other base part to effect a double action interlocking. The parts are formed by extrusion and may have integral therewith, door stops, window sash guide channels or distance pieces to secure alignment of the two interlocking base parts.
