Abstract

A door, window &c frame for mounting in a wall opening and composed of a core 12 of rectangular cross-section of wood or other cellulose material and a preformed U-section cover or coating of plastics 16 adapted to fit over the three exposed sides of the core and the ends of the arms of the U-section having inwardly turned flanges 28 to engage in grooves in the sides of the core, e.g. with ribbed or serrated surfaces and a longitudinal stop projection 20 extending from the cover in a cantilever manner in an inward direction of the frame from the core and being formed with a strip projection 42 having serrations and directed away from the stop to engage in a slot 40 formed in the core. U-section lining strips 34 may be provided to mark the juntion of the wall and frame and are of U-section, one arm 32 of which is prolonged and provided with serrations at its end portion to engage in a slot 38 in the core and lock the flange 28 of the cover in position, the other arm 36 just resting on the wall surface. Spacers 14 may be interposed between the wall 10 and core 12.
