Abstract

1,215,846. Reversing. UNITED DIESEL AB. Oct. 29, 1968 [Nov. 17, 1967], No. 51162/68. Heading F1K. In a reversible four stroke internal combustion engine means for operating the inlet and exhaust valves and the fuel pumps 13 comprises a cam shaft 14 provided with cams for ahead and astern running which shaft is axially displaceable for reversing. The cams for operating the inlet and exhaust valves of each cylinder are made integral as a cam body 22 having three axially spaced cam surfaces 23, 24, 25. The cam followers 16, 17 for each inlet and exhaust valve are so arranged with respect to the cam body that one of them depending on the axial position of the cam shaft will co-operate with one of the outer cam surfaces, the other cam follower co-operating with the intermediate cam surface.
