Abstract
Some improvements in internal combustion engines, of the spark ignition and high speed type, intended to drive motor vehicles, of the type that have several cylinders, each of which has a piston mounted inside and which is equipped of two valves (two single valves), arranged and controlled separately from each other and constituting respectively a single intake valve and a similarly unique exhaust valve, each of said valves comprising a closing element mounted on an engine cylinder head for its displacement in closing and opening contact with respect to a valve seat (single seat) and operating according to a four-stroke cycle, in which each piston is driven in its corresponding cylinder by the expansion of gases heated by combustion of a gasoline-air mixture supplied to a combustion chamber located at one end of the cylinder through the valve the cylinder intake, the combustion products being expelled from each cylinder by means of its corresponding exhaust valve, passing to an engine exhaust manifold and the engine compression ratio being less than 11: 1, characterized in that the surface (π D1/4) of the exhaust valve of each cylinder is at least 7% larger than that of the intake valve.
