Abstract

1,215,516. Lubricating. DIOSGYORI GEPGYAR AND " DECEMBER 4 " DROTMUVEK. 20 May, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 23918/68. Heading F2A. [Also in Division D1] Lubricant is located between the wires or strands of a wire rope during the manufacture thereof by means of the core or core strand having lubricant forced-fed thereto and by the core or core strand conveying lubricant to the other wires or strands. A device for supplying the lubricant comprises a rotor 1, which is mounted on a twisting or stranding tube 2 and serves as a twisting or stranding head; and a stator 8, having an annular chamber 10 therein which is connected by means of a passage 12 in the stator 8, a pipe 11, a valve 16 and a pump 14, to a lubricant reservoir 15. In use the core or core strand is passed through a bore 4 in an exchangeable sleeve 3 mounted in the rotor 1 and heated lubricant is forced from the annular chamber 10 into the bore 4, via passages 6, 5. The wires or strands to be twisted are passed through bores 7 in the rotor 1. A resilient sealing ring 9 is provided.
