Abstract
1513086 Filling multi-conductor cables NORTHERN TELECOM Ltd 2 April 1976 [21 April 1975] 13470/76 Heading D1L In filling the interstices of a multi-conductor cable 60 by passage through a pressure chamber 12 having a rotatable inlet die 28 which separates the individual conductors whilst passing therethrough, the rotatable die is provided with passages 72, 74 [Fig. 4] to introduce the filler into the space 64 between the separated conductors. The die of Fig. 4 acts as a scoop to draw the filler into radial passage 74 and discharge it via axial passage 72. In the arrangement of Fig. 5 (not shown) the die forms with the wall (94) of the mount a closed chamber into which the pressurized filler is introduced via inlet (98), the chamber communicating via the die passages with the pressure vessel. The die mount may be driven.
