Abstract

1,214,025. Pallet loader. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX G.m.b.H. 14 Aug., 1968 [5 Sept., 1967], No. 38829/68. Heading B8C. Apparatus for loading pallets with piece goods, e.g. crates, comprises a feed conveyer, a collecting station for rows of piece goods, a pusher member acting at right angles to the feed direction, a second collecting station and a carriage for carrying piece goods from the second collecting station to a pallet on to which they are transferred by a stripper wherein the second collecting station has one or more cantilever arms which project into recesses in the carriage and wherein the feed conveyer, collecting stations, carriage and stripper are all two tiered. The lower carriage may be vertically movable relative to the upper carriage. Crates are supplied by conveyers 4, 4<SP>1</SP> (not shown) to collecting stations 13, 13<SP>1</SP> and are moved transversely by pusher members 7, 7<SP>1</SP> to the second collecting station 6, 6<SP>1</SP> formed as cantilever arms which extend into the carriages 8, 8<SP>1</SP>. A pallet transporter 1 supplies pallets to a pallet lift device 2 and a pallet is raised to the position shown. The carriages 8, 8<SP>1</SP> are moved to a position above the pallet, the lower carriage 8<SP>1</SP> is raised, either by the means connecting it to carriage 8 or by the pallet, the strippers 12, 12<SP>1</SP> are moved into position and the carriages are returned leaving the crates on the pallet. The pallet lift device may then be lowered and the process repeated until the pallet has the required load.
