Abstract
1295454 Stacking articles LAMSON ENG CO Ltd 3 Dec 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 53080/69 Heading B8C A machine for loading units of packages on to a pallet comprises a movable stripper plate for receiving the packages, means for moving the packages off the stripper plate, a table for feeding the packages to the stripper plate in a direction at right angles to the direction of movement of the stripper plate and means for moving the packages on the table in a direction parallel to the direction of movement of the stripper plate so that further packages can be received on the table while the other units are on the table. As shown, packages, e.g., crates fed along a conveyer la are halted by a rising stop 3, which when lowered permits passage of crates on to a part A of a table 1 in batches of five. A transfer grid 4 moves the batch to a part B, the grid 4 is withdrawn and the next batch moves on to part A. A ram bar 5 carried on endless belts engages the rear sides of the crates to move the batches on to a stripper plate 6, one half of which extends in alignment with the table 1 and the other half of which extends over the outfeed side of one or the other of outfeed loading mechanisms. The loaded plate 6 is then moved alternately to the left or the right to transfer the crates above lift forks 11 or 11a. A stripper 7 is lowered and the stripper plate 6 is withdrawn and the crates are deposited on the lift forks 11 which are then lowered by one crate height in readiness for the next layer. Completed stacks of crates on both sides of the plate 6 are lowered on to trolleys 16.
