Abstract
1,213,532. Bearings. FLEXELLO CASTORS & WHEELS Ltd. 11 Feb., 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 14724/68. Heading F2A. [Also in Division A4] In a castor wheel assembly in which tracks 30, 36 for bearing balls 37 are provided in surfaces of a stem 24, secured by a flange 25 to the article to be supported, and a socket 33 receiving the stem and having fork legs 32 for a castor wheel, ingress of dust to the bearing balls and escape of lubricant are prevented by a resilient, annular, frusto-conical washer 38 of metal or plastics which is deformed between surface 28, surrounding the stem and the upper surface of the rim of the socket 33. A removable plug 40 held by a pin 41 provides access to the bearing balls. In a modification, the socket is formed by a bore in a plate carrying the fork legs, bearing rollers and inner and outer races therefore being provided on side surfaces of the stem and socket, and surfaces surrounding the stem and socket, between which an inverted resilient annular frusto-conical washer is provided, also have annular grooves for bearing balls.
