Abstract
1,212,576. Pusher plate movement control in centrifuge. ALFA-LAVAL BERGEDORFER EISENWERKE G.m.b.H. 30 July, 1968 [14 Dec., 1967], No. 36202/68. Heading B1D. The axial reciprocation of pusher plate 5 within the rotary drum 1 of a centrifuge is effected by piston-cylinder motor 2, 3, 7, which rotates with the drum, and controlled by sensors 15, 24, which respond to the proximity of emitter 9, carried by piston 7, to operate magnetic valve 18 and reverse the flow of hydraulic oil to the motor. Thus piston 7 and plate 5 are repeatedly reciprocated, and the length and end positions of the stroke described by plate 5 are adjustable by moving sensors 15, 24 along the axis of cylinder extension 8. The electric circuit includes a variable time delay 16, which may also vary the stroke length of plate 5, and amplifier 17. In Fig. 1, valve 18 controls oil flow to the motor directly, while in Fig. 2 (not shown) valve 18 controls a fluid valve (32) which in turn actuates a fluid-operated valve (31) to reverse flow to the motor.
