Abstract
1310645 Hydraulic pressure transformers W KIRSCHSIEPER 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 23130/71 Heading F1D An hydraulic pressure transformer comprises an inlet 12 and low and high pressure outlets 13, 14 communicating with a bore 2 containing a reciprocal control rod 3 having pistons 4, 5, 6. Pistons 8, 10, interconnected by rod 11, reciprocate in bores 7, 9. Ducts 15, 16, 17, 18 intercommunicate spaces in bores 2, 7, 9 as is clearly shown in the Fig. A passage 19 leads from the junction of bores 7, 9 to exhaust. In operation, and starting from the position shown, liquid enters through inlet 12 and passes to duct 18 and to the right-hand side of piston 10 which thus moves to the left forcing fluid at a lower pressure from bore 7 through duct 17 to outlet 13. When piston 10 passes over the opening into bore 9 of duct 15, then liquid passes from bore 9 through this duct 15 to the left-hand side of piston 4 thus moving the control rod 3 to the right so that piston 4 blocks outlet 13 but piston 6 uncovers outlet 14. Inlet 12 now communicates with duct 17 and thus moves pistons 8, 10 to the right to expel liquid at a higher pressure from outlet 14. When piston 10 moves past the opening of duct 16, this duct supplies fluid to the right of piston 6 to move the control rod 3 to the left to start the cycle again.
