Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an actuator which permits increasing the distance of a moving stroke of two output terminals, by inserting a plunger into a driving space in a cylinder, which is between a piston fitted into the cylinder and a head side end wall of the cylinder, such that the plunger is projected out of the cylinder through the head side end wall thereof.
CONSTITUTION: When a pressure fluid is supplied into an actuator 2 in a state shown in the drawing from a line 38 in a controlling fluid pressure circuit via a port 16, cylinder 4, into which a piston rod 20 fixed to a suitable structure 36 is fitted, is moved in the direction of an arrow 40. As a result, the volume of a driving space 26 is reduced, and a plunger 8 is moved in the direction of an arrow 42 owing to the effect of a driving fluid in the space 26. At this time, the reduction of volume of the space 26 is offset since the plunger 8 moved in the mentioned direction is projected outside the space 26. Thus, the volume of the space 26 is maintained at a constant level at all times. When the port 16 is then communicated with a tank via the line 38, the plunger 8 and cylinder 4 are returned to their respective original positions.
