Duplicating apparatus; set-off prevention.- A lithographic duplicating machine comprises a printing cylinder 12 provided with a resilient surface 14 and adapted to support a replaceable master sheet 16, and an impression roller 24 formed of rigid material and coated with a highly hydrophilic, oleophobic rigid material such as chromium, said roller being adapted to support in turn a plurality of copy sheets 26 which are narrower, Fig. 3 (not shown), than the master sheet 16. The underlay surface 14 is preferably of rubber and the oleophobic surface on the roller 24 prevents set-off on the rear of wider copy sheets. Damping apparatus.-Ink and water are supplied to the master from fountains 20 and 22 respectively, both solutions being applied by a common forme roller in a train 18.
