Abstract

1,211,933. Radio guidance and radar. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 25 Jan., 1968 [10 Feb., 1967], No. 3916/68. Addition to 1,136,643. Heading H4D. A radar adapted for use for the control of target-following missiles comprises a directional aerial arrangement as claimed in the parent Specification. Of the two directional aerial systems having approximately the same origin and main direction of radiation, one, having the smaller aperture and operating on the shorter of two wavelengths is employed for missile following, and the other aerial system, having the larger aperture and operating on the longer of the two wavelengths, is employed for target following. The two aerial systems may be used for simultaneous radar location of a target and a missile, or one may provide a radio guiding beam along which a missile steers itself. Further equipment may be associated with the radar for determining the angle between the directions of a target and of a missile to be guided thereto, and it may function by detecting infra-red radiation from the missile.
