Abstract
1,209,339. Road and like rollers. THOMAS GREEN & SON Ltd. 7 July, 1969 [12 July, 1968], No. 33473/68. Heading B7H. A pedestrian-operated single roll vibratory roller is provided with two auxiliary rolls 1 which have a length less than that of the main roll 10 and can be positioned in contact with the periphery of the main roll 10 so as to be rotated and vibrated thereby for compacting the earth in a trench. Each auxiliary roll 1 is carried by a pair of cranked arms 4, 4<SP>1</SP> pivoted on brackets 5, 5<SP>1</SP> connected through rubber mounttings 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to arms 7, 7<SP>1</SP> depending from the roller frame. The auxiliary rollers 1 can be swung into inoperative positions in which they are secured by bolts inserted through registering holes and serve as parking rollers for limiting tilting of the roller about the main roll axis when the roller is not in use.
