811,760. Road rollers. AVELING-BARFORD Ltd. Nov. 6, 1957 [Nov. 6, 1956], No.33841/56. Class 6(1). An auxiliary roll 23 is provided on a roller for consolidating material in a trench. As shown a triangular beam 10 is attached by means of arms 11 to the axle of the rear roll 12 of the roller lugs 34 on the beam 10 are connected to hydraulic cylinders 32 so that the beam may be raised or lowered. The roll 23 is transversely adjustable along the beam 10 and is mounted in a bracket 19 carried by lugs 21 on a saddle 13 clamped to the beam 10. The bracket 19 may be fixed in two positions by means of a bolt which clumps an abutment 25 or 26 into contact with an abutment 28 or 29 on the saddle 13.
