Abstract

802,865. Road rollers. SOCIETE D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES INDUSTRIELLES, SOTREMA. July 9, 1957 [July 10, 1956], No. 21683/57. Class 6(1). A compactor roller mounted on tyred wheels comprises driving wheels 3, 4 mounted on swing arms 5 pivotally mounted on a transverse shaft 6 and adjusted by means of double-acting hydraulic cylinders 12 so that the swing arms may be fixed in any desired angular position or may be free to rock. A movable ballast weight 2 is provided and is longitudinally adjusted by means of a hydraulic cylinder 16. A hydraulic cylinder 14 adjusts the position of a vibrator 13. In a modification ballast is carried in a bucket which forms an integral part of the frame 7. For transport purposes certain wheels in the swing arms may be removed to reduce the overall width of the roller.
