Abstract

751,288. Road-making machines. BLAW-KNOX CO. May 24, 1954 [Dec. 8, 1953], No. 15253/54. Class 107. An apparatus for laying down and screeding paving materials comprises a frame 10 carried on a tread unit 11, 12, 13, 14 and a hopper secured thereto by pivoted arms 21, for vertical adjustment by hydraulic cylinders 37, 37. A screed is provided at the bottom of the Veeshaped blade 22 and is arranged in two parts each of which can be set for height and camber by handles 64, 67. The blade 22 forms one wall of the hopper, which has an inclined bottom 24. Rollers 26, 26 are provided for propelling a dump truck whilst it empties into the hopper. Steerable tandem wheels 47 are carried on the hopper by adjustable arms 42. Extensions 28 detachably secured to the blade are adjustable to vary its width. The tandem wheels are steered by a hydraulic cylinder 53. The screed is oscillated by an eccentric and strap device.
