851,452. Road rollers. KOEHRING CO. July 22, 1957, No. 23098/57. Class 6(1). A road roller is provided with rubber tyred transport wheels 11 or 51 and a hitch 16 or 61 for attachment to a towing vehicle. As shown in Fig. 2, arms 9 are mounted on a shaft 7 which may be rotated by means of a hydraulic cylinder as shown or by a motor drive. Wheels 11 are mounted on the arms 9 and are fixed in position by means of a pin 17 co-operating with holes 16c in a quadrant 16 mounted on the roller frame. The position of the hitch 16 may be adjusted by means of a pin 20 cooperating with a quadrant 18b. As shown in Fig. 7, each arm 9 is replaced by a portion 49c hinged by means of a hinge 49a to a portion 49 mounted on the transverse shaft 47. The frame 40a is shortened in width to accommodate the wheels as shown. When folded down to the transport position the two portions 49, 49c are held together by cam locks 57 and the wheels are lowered by hydraulic or mechanical power to raise the roller. The wheels are held in the lowered position by further cam locks.
