Abstract

916,473. Shovelling machines. FOGDEN, T June 30, 1961 [June 30, 1960], No. 22878/60. Addition to 863,270. Class 68 (1). [Also in Group XXX] The linkage between the hydraulic ram and the bar supporting a lifting boom described in the parent Specification is modified in that the link to which the ram piston-rod is connected is provided with a series of holes in any one of which the end of the piston-rod may be interchangeably located to vary the speed and lifting capacity of the boom. The bar 10 is mounted on a base frame for rotation about an axis 11 inclined to the axis of the tractor rear wheels as described in the parent Specification and carries a link 2 provided with an internal profile cam 3 and with a series of holes 4 in one of which the ram piston-rod 9 is located. The ram cylinder is pivoted between a pair of plates 1 which are pivoted at 6 to the base frame and which are provided with a roller 8 engaging the face of the cam 3. A bracket 13 secured to the bar 10 is provided with holes 17 to enable the lifting boom to be adjustably connected thereto. On retracting the ram 5 to raise the boom, the roller 8 runs over the cam faces 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP>, 3<SP>111</SP> causing the boom to travel through its vertical position to a position, Fig. 5, in which the curved portion 14 of the plates 1 engage the bar 10 and acts as a stop.
