Abstract

1,208,801. Mixed filament yarns. E.I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 4 Sept., 1968 [5 Sept., 1967], No. 42046/68. Heading D1W. A mixed filament textile yarn of a meltspinnable polymer or polymers comprises a multiplicity of continuous, drawn, synthetic, organic, polymeric filaments of at least two types, each type having a dissimilar inherent apparent colouration and is characterised in that the yarn has a degree of filament intermingling greater than 65%, preferably greater than 80%, the difference in elongation at break of the different filament types does not exceed 15% and the amount of each type of filament is in the range 10-90% of the weight of the yarn. The different types of filaments are preferably blended together prior to or during the drawing stage. The yarn is preferably composed of 50% by weight of each of polyethylene terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate/5-sodium sulpho isophthalate.
